Office Indian Affairs Cal San Francisco Oct 6th 1865
Sir I have the honor to state to the [illegible] [illegible] of Indian affairs that the late superintendent in his [illegible] to this office of a list of vouchers for the indebtedness due employees incured under his administration there was a number which included a part of the month of June 1864 amounting in the aggregate to one hundred and eighty nine 03/100 dollars as by your letter of instructions of July 6th [illegible] I am only authorized to pay employees for the first year ending June 30th 1865, I would respectfully [illegible] the propriety of my being authorized to pay the full amount of those vouchers which include the fractional part of the month of June 1864 [illegible] of the parties have [illegible] the vouchers for the amount due them and have left the state leaving the purchases unable to obtain their money unless authority is given to pay the vouchers as returned to this office a sufficient amount of [illegible] is in hand to pay said vouchers in full of the amount forwarded for this payment of employees for the fical year ending June 30th 1865
