material growth of the church" both spiritual
and temporal. With these as the results of his
labours, surely we are justified in dissenting
from the adoption of a course which intrenches
us as materially upon the usages to which we are
accustomed. And we submit most respectfully
as our deliberate and candid conviction that
it would be both impolite and hazardous
to the best interest of the church to resort to
any curtailment of the services when the
