At a meeting of the Vestry of Henrico Parish, at the house of Thomas Nicolson, called by the Rev. John Buchan for the purpose of choosing Vestrymen, to fill up vacancies occasioned by the death and removal of eight members. = Present,

Rev'd John Buchanan, - Edwd Carrington, Robert Pollard, William Marshall, Thoss Nicolson,

Col. Edward Carrington was appointed Chairman: when the following persons were elected, to wit: Alexander McRae, John Adams, Chas. Copland, Wm. Hay, Henry Shore, Saml. Greenhow, John Williamson and John Ambler, who entered their names in the Record Book (P 54)

Resolved, that Mr. Alexander McRae be appointed a Lay Deputy, to accompany the Rev'd John Buchanan, minister of this Parish, to the next Convention of the Protestant Episcopal Church.

Resolved, that Thomas Nicolson & John Adams, be appointed to fill the offices of vestrymen, occasioned by the death & removal of the two former ones (Wm Wiseham & John Barrett.)

Resolved, that Messrs Hay, Carrington, W. Marshall, McRae, Greenbow, and Adams, be appointed a Committee to prepare and circulate subscription papers for the purpose of raising a fund to purchase ground, and erect a Church for the use of the members of the Protestant Episcopal Church, and report their proceedings to the next meeting of the Vestry.

[notes in pencil: Paper of 16 pages I found this Paper of 16 pages in the 3d story of Mrs Col ?? [illegible] house cor. 28th & Franklin Str. Richmond Va in 1867. In 1868 being Sr Warden of St John Church of said City. I copied these proceedings Entiro into the Old Vestry Book of said Church and gave this original to the Vestry. In [1872?] I found this same paper in a [illegible] Store and have determined to keep it [illegible] the Vestry will not. [illegible signature]

At a meeting of the Vestry at Henrico Parish at the House of Mr John Buchannan called by John Adams the only acting Church Warden

Present Rev'd John Buchannan, Robert Pollard, John Adams Henry S. Shaw, Samuel Greenhow & John Ambler, May 12th 1812

The Rev'd John Buchannan was appointed Chairman It appearing that two vacancies in the office of the Vestry men have occurred by the death of Cols. Edward Carrington & W. Thomas Nicolson, when Mr. William Mayo & Mr. Anthony Turner were unanimously appointed & Mr. Turner was appointed Church Warden in the place of Mr. Thomas Nicolson deceased

Resolved that Mr. Alexander McRae be requested to attend the Rev'd John Buchannan as a lay Deputy to the Convention of the Protestant episcopal church to be held in the present month in the City of Richmond

Resolved that Messrs Turner, Ambler, Greenhow & Shore be requested to attend to the making of a collection at the Church on Sunday next for the repairs of the Church.

Resolved that the Church Wardens be authorised with the advice of the minister to appoint & displace from time to time a Sexton to the Church & to regulate the prices for digging graves

Resolved that a Book be kept at the office of Mr. Samuel Greenbow on H Street near the Swan Tavern, for the purpose of registering or enrolling the members of the Protestant Episcopal Church in the City of Richmond & County of Henrico conformably to a Resolution of the Convention of the Protestant Episcopal Church passed on the 5th of May 18[0?]3 and it has hoped that the members of the Church will attend at as early a date

as may be conenient to carry the objects of this Resolution into effect Resolved that the forgoing Resolution be printed in all the News Papers published in this city. John Buchanan John Adams, Church Warden

At a meeting of the Vestry for the parish of Henrico on the 18th Day of July 1812. Present John Ambler. Chairman. John Adams. } Wardens Anthony Turner.} Wardens William Marshall } Vestrymen and Samuel Greenhow} Vestrymen

Resolved that the wardens be instructed to permit the Rev. Jno [John] D. Blair to perform Divine Worship in the Church on tomorrow, and on each alternate Sabbath thereafter, and at any other time when the Church shall not be occupied by the Incumbent Doct: John Buchanan.

Resolved that the wardens be instructed to rent out the pews of the Church at Public Auction after due notice thereof for the purpose of raising a fund for the use of the same, provided, that they shall not rent more than one moiety of the same, nor for a longer time than one year.

Resolved that Messrs. John Adams, Anthony Turner, Henry S. Shore, Thomas Taylor, William Marshall and Samuel Greenhow, be a Committee to collect from the Members of the Church and Citizens of Richmond, a sum of money for the purpose of repairing the Church.

Resolved that a Committee be appointed to correspond with the Bishops of Pennsylvania & New York on the subject of obtaining a Minister for this parish and that the Committee consist of Messrs. William Marshall and Samuel Greenhow.

Whereas it appears to the satisfaction of the Vestry, Mr. Wm [William] Hay has removed from the City and is no longer a resident of this parish. Resolved that Mr. William Walker Weymouth be appointed and he is hereby appointed a Vestryman , to fell the vacancy occasioned by the removal of Mr. Hay.

Resolved that the Reverend John Buchanan be requested to announce from the Desk after Divine Worship the resolution of the last vestry requiring the

the Members of the Church to enroll themselves, and also to give notice of the place at which the Book of Enrollment is now, or may be deposited.

Resolved that the Committee for collecting a fund for repairing the Church be instructed to pay over the same to the Wardens, to be disbursed under their Direction and at their Discretion, in the necessary repairs and improvements and painting the Church; and in the purchase of Books of, and Cloths for the Pulpit, Desks and Communion Table.

Resolved that the Wardens be requested to obtain a Clerk to assist in the public administration of the Church service, and with the advice and consent of Doctor Buchanan to appoint such person as they may obtain, to perform that duty.

Resolved that the Vestry do now adjourned.
