Savannah River Lying with Main yard aback
till 4 AM. when filled away to N.& E. At 8 AM.
took Pilot. All day working up to Savannah
& at 8 1/2 PM came to Anchor in River opposite
City & hauled alongside the Levee. Got fast
at 9 1/2 o'clock. Sails furled, & then went up
town a little while.
8 Days from Boston
Sunday Oct 23. 1859
In morning washed decks and
cleared up. In forenoon recd letters from
R.W. Bartlell. Annie M. Case & Henrietta. I love
to receive letters especially from the last. Attended
Presbyterian Ch. In PM on board ship writing
to Mother & Henrietta. In evy at African Ch
with Jas L. Morse who arrd today on Steamship
"Montgomery"

Monday Oct 24.
"Turned to" at 6 AM. Pegged in
Lift boom, Cockbilled yards & got hatches clear
Also catered Starboard anchor. The weather
