Dear Sirs: -

The Package of photographs which you have sent on have been received and carefully examined and they appear generally to be carefully taken and ought to give good results, but there are several which are not satisfactory.

The view of the Brooks lot shows all the graves in the lot except that of Bishop Brooks although this grave was the only one desired.

The view of the Lowell stone seems very stiff, although perhaps something can be done by vigneting and thereby getting rid of so much grass. There are trees on the lot which it would seem might be worked in to give a better result.

The views of the Lawn fountain with the Chapel in the distance and of the Burlingame monument and Alice Fountain are not satisfactory. They were intended to be more general views of the albums you previously furnished. The fault which I find is that [of] lack of foreground but I suppose there is not doubt that this can be remedied by retaking the views from a more distant spot.

The view of the Tower seems to be indistinct and out of focus, and should be retaken also.

Is it intended that the printed plate shall show exactly the same matter as the photographs sent on? If so some of the prints will bear trimming.

Respectfully yours, JW Lovering

J. Gourley, Esq.,

D.F.A. Fitchburg R. R. Boston.

Dear Sir: -

The Mt. Auburn Cemetery Corporation will pay the cost of construction, which you stated to me will not exceed four hundred and ninety dollars ($490.00), of a switch and spur track leading form the track of the F.R.R. near Mt. Auburn station and extending onto the land of the cemetery, two hundred (200) feet, it being understood that no extra charge is to be made for switching cars in and out, and that the tracks on the land of the Cemetery are the property of the Mt. Auburn Cemetery Corporation, who do not bind themselves in any way to allow their use to other parties if for any reason it is considered inconvenient.

Respectfully yours, JW Lovering Sup’t.

Dear [Illegible]

I do not want to undertake to furnish any of the photographs from the album. I think you should send your own photographer here and let him stay long enough to get satisfactory results or else give up the job altogether.

Respectfully yours,

JW Lovering Sup’t.

Mass. Broken Stone Co.,

#235 Franklin St., Boston.

Dear Sirs: -

Your favor of June 21st in answer to my inquiry about method of weighing stone is received with thanks, also samples of broken stone the coarser of which I understand to be your No. 1 size, and the finer, a smaller size which I fear contains to much dust to answer here but I can tell better after trial.

Provided you can deliver for immediate use, say before July 4th. several car loads of each size you may send five hundred (500) tons No. 1 blue stone coarse sample sent me, and one hundred (100) tons of the finer blue stone, which I understand you will deliver on the cars on the new side track of the Corporation near the Mt. Auburn station on the Fitchburg R. R. for one dollar and forty cents ($1.40) per ton freight paid.

The Fitchburg R. R. have not notified me that the track was completed, but it appears to be all ready for use.

It is two hundred (200) feet in length so you can judge how many cars you can send at once.

If you send us some to begin on you will probably be able after that to deliver faster than it will be used. If you will send [b]ill with each lot as shipped, it will be paid in the early
