Shrubs etc.

it was voted that Dr Bigelow be a Committee to direct the Gardener to procure & set out such shrubs & trees as he may think proper, not exceeding the expense of $100—

Life Members—

Voted that all life members of the Society who have paid twenty dollars to the Treasurer to constitute them such, shall have the right to take lots in the Cemetery on the same terms as other purchasers, and the said payments of $20 shall be deducted from the purchase money— provided however that the balance of such purchase money be paid to the Treasurer of the Committee within six months from 1st December—

Voted that the Secretary give notice of the prece-- ding vote to each life member—

Trespass

Voted that Judge Story, Mr Curtis & Mr Bond be a Committee to inquire into the Trespass committed on Mr S. G. Williams' lot, & take such measures as they deem expedient—

Tombs.

Voted that the same persons be a Committee to prepare a circular letter to be sent to each pro-

Prints of Gate.

Voted that the Treasurer pay the expense of drawing & striking off the prints of the Gate of the Cemetery, which were executed by order of Dr Bigelow

Voted that Dr Bigelow be a Committee to pro-- cure as many copies of said print as he shall deem necessary for distribution

Superintendt & Gardener

Voted that the Secretary advertize for a suitable person to perform the duties of Superintendant & Gardener at Mount Auburn— applications to be made on or before

Voted that Gen: Dearborn be a Committee to confer with Mr James W. Russell and to conclude an engagement with him as Superintendant of the Garden & Cemetery at Mount Auburn, for one year from and for such further time not exceeding two years as the Garden & Cemetery Committee shall desire it, at the salary of $ 600 a year payable quarterly — Voted that Dr Bigelow & Mr Bond be a Commee to have the gate repainted, and the inscription to be removed and replaced with larger letters if they see fit —

Catalogue

Voted that Mr Bond & Mr Curtis be a Committee to prepare a Catalogue of the Lots & Proprietors' name for publication, and a list of changes for interment &c -

Bills to be paid

Voted that the Treasurer be authorized to pay the following ^bills.D. Haggerston for waggon & harness - W. Horne for carpenter's work &c - F. & J. Winhips for plants &c.

Names to Paths.

Voted that Dr Bigelow be a Committee to give names to new paths lately laid out—

Ways & means

Voted that Mr Gould & Mr Bond be a Committee to see by what methods the resources of the Society can be made more productive, & report thereon.—

Additional Labourers

Voted that the same persons be a Committee to authorize the Superintendant to employ additional hands in preparing lots for sale or for proprietors

Lots to be discontinued.

Voted that the same persons be a Committee to discontinue any lots now laid out, which have not been sold, & which they deem inexpedient to retain

Wadsworth.

Voted that the same persons be a Committee to confer with Mr Wadsworth, the Surveyor, & ascertain the terms on which he will engage to survey future lots— & report thereon—

Price of Lots.—

Voted that from after the 1st September next, the price of Lots shall be enhanced, & that the Secretary give public notice thereof

Fees for interment

Mr Bond offered a schedule of fees proper to be charged by the Superintendant, for services relative to interments, which was adopted

Lafayette

A letter signed by H F Baker, L. M. Walter & C. F. Adams a Committee of the Young Men of Boston, requesting to have a lot of land assigned for a Cenoptaph in memory of Gen: Lafayette, was read, and thereupon voted that the laudable design of the Young Men of Boston to erect a Cenotaph in memory of Lafayette has the cordial approbation of the Committee, and ^that a suitable piece of ground in the Cemetery shall be laid out & appropriated to the erection of such monument— Dr Bigelow, Mr Bond & Mr Curtis were appointed a Committee to designate the spot where the Cenotaph shall be erected

Wagon

Mr Bond was appointed a Committee to procure a Wagon for transporting stone & other heavy burdens within the garden & cemetery.—

House

Mr Bond was appointed a Committee to repair the Superintendant's House

Posts

Also to erect an additional number of posts for horses without the Gate & within the grounds, at his discretion—

Benches

Also to erect such number of benches in the grounds as he deems expedient
