Mr Norcross then offered the following
resolution: _

Resolution offered to Exhonorate Superintendt

Voted _ That the Board of Trus-
tees, in accordance with the suggestions con-
tained in the Report of a Committee to the Propri-
etors at the Annual Meeting, have made a
'full and ^most thorough investigation' of the complaints
referred to, and find that the evidence in the
case fails to sustain the charges against the
Superintendent
impeaching his courtesy and
propriety of conduct. _

A discussion at considerable length
ensued, pending which Mr Read
offered an Amendment to the resolution,
which he subsequently whithdrew and the
question was ordered to be taken. _

The yeas and nays were called for _

Upon call

Six gentlemen voted yea _

viz Austin, Bowditch, Livermore, Lovejoy,
Norcross and Sleeper,

and five gentlemen voted nay _

viz John T. Bradlee, Nathl J. Bradlee, Brewer,
Rand and Turner _

and Dr Bigelow declined to vote,

Supt authorized to employ temporary Gate Keeper

Voted that the Superintendent be authorized to employ a temporary Gatekeeper


Adjourned to the Attest Austin J. Coolidge Secretary
