All theas 24 hours pleasant breeses from the SW
and clear weathear at 7 PM Lay off and on St
mikels town at 1 PM made the land at 6 ½ PM
Cap and boat crew went on shoar and at 11 AM returned
and A boat from shoar and took 14 casks for water &c
so ends this wirisome Long Day

All theas 24 hours fine breeses and plesant weather
brig laying off and on at 7 AM came to anchor
and got 120 bls water 80 bush potatoes and [ion?] 2 pigs eggs &c
so ends this day started sugar coffee rice &c
this day Sold 5 bls Black fish oil at 50 cts per gallon

the first part calm at 7 PM took the anchor
and went to see the middle part A gale from
the ESE with rain handed fore top sail and clost reeft main
Cooper and William Martin on shoar the last part
more modrate made all sail stering in for the land
at 11 AM cpn and second mate and crew went on shoar
this day Sold 1 bls B [fs?] Oil 50.5 per gallon so ends this long plesant galy day

the first part fresh breeses from the South and cloudy
at 5 ½ Cap came on board with A hirad man the middle Part
heavy gales at 10 PM handed fore top sail and clost reeft main
at haf past 10 took in the fore sail and try sail sot fore Spencer at 11 sot
the fore sail at 11½ tok it in at 1 PM the wind shifted to the West woar ship
at 1 AM heading to the S by W at 8 AM keep off E by S and sot the fore sail
the land in sight the most part of the day in regard to boat
cumming of had on acount of getting drunk B K
nip.

Remarks On board Brig Leonidas Friday October 8th 1852
the first part strong gales from the West A heavy see
at 2 PM luft too under the S.E. point of St mikels at 5 PM
sot the fore top sail standing off and on the S.E . point at 12½
woar ship heading to the west at 3 AM sot jibb and
main sail and at 6 AM turned one reef out main
top sail at 11 AM lost sight of the land &c
so ends this long day

the first part strong breeses from the NNW at 3 PM
turnd one reef out of the fore top sail and went A bout
at 5 PM tacked into the west the midle part more modrate
at mid night woar ship and turnd the reef out brig stering in N.E.
the last part nearly Calm at day light made the land to the N.N.E
Lat by Obs 37°24' North
