[Indented] Q. What is Dick Goodwin's wife's given name? A. Clara
Goodwin,
[Indented] Q. What I would like to know is about the exact day,
can you give it. A. I think maybe the Sheriff and I could get
together and find out.
[Indented] Q. What is Dick Gooddwin's boy's name and age?
[Indented] A. Ralph; I think he's about 8 years old.
[Indented] I came to town and reported it to the Sheriff that night
and told him what I had learned concerning the letter.
[Indented] Q. Have you ever herad of Dick Goodwin denying the letter?
[Indented] A. No sir. The Sheriff said he was not sorry of any-
thing he has done concerning the arrest of Murrell LAne.

[Indented] Q. Did Dick Goodwin's wife over hear you all talking the

[Indented] A. She wanted to know of Dick what we were doing up
there, and Dick told her, so she sits right down and writes her
sister to tell Murrell to look out as we were making plans to
catch him.
[Indented] Q. You went to Arthur LAnes to make a search? Did
anything suspicious turn out?
[Indented] A. Nothing except he was very slow in coming out, said
he was sick; said he did not know anything about Murrell, had not
spoken to him for three year and and said no, I do not have
anything to do with him. I said, looks to me like he being one of
your younger brothers, you ought to set and example for him and tell
him what to do. He said, "No, sir, he did not have anything in the
world to do with him. Then I ask him didn't he live right in the
same house when he answered, yes, but I did not have anything to do
with him,- he just stuck right to it.
[Indented] Q. Do you remember the day Murrell Lane was inducted
into the service by the Local Board and left for Camp Jackson?
