4. These boats are justifying themselves It is hoped that they will prove of the greatest value in future operations. They took advantage of opportunity offered which is the great factor. These attacks set a splendid example and boost morale in the patrol fleet.

The c.o.s of the patrol boats are showing good courage in the face of° possible odds in gunfire that might develop from these attacks. It is submitted that consideration be given to installing a half cylindrical 1/4" special steel plate flanged on the bottom, resting on a track permitting rotation in direction of fire, supported by a double rail inside and outside to guide travel. This to be just below point where machine gun can be depressed 45°.
