With modrate [MODERATE] breeses [BREEZES] and pleasant weather. Wind
from the NE. All sail set. Employed in ships duty.
Steering E by S. At 3 PM sent out the flying jib boom.
Saw a brig steering to the N. Middle part strong
breeses [BREEZES]. At 9 single reef the fore & misen [MIZZEN] topsail. Latter close
reef the topsails and furled the misen [MIZZEN] topsail. Steerin [STEERING] E by S.

Friday oct [OCTOBER] 22
With strong breeses [BREEZES] from the NE. Steering E by S under
close reef fore & main topsails. Employed in ships duty.
Middle part as a [GALE?] bloing [BLOWING] hard from the ENE. Latter
part more modrate [MODERATE]. At daylight losed [LOOSENED] the misen [MIZZEN] topsail
and turned one reef out the fore and main. So ends.
