1837 27th 1 mo The weather for some days has been moderate, but pretty cold.
6th day of the week, the weather today was very pleasant for the season. Some of the old folks says, as the weather is on the last 6th day in each month, so it will be all the succeeding month, according to this we may expect the weather will be pleasant in all next month.
28 Considerable rain, small wind southerly.
29 Pleasant
30 Small wind at SE & East & pleasant. Thermometer at 45 in the shade, the streets very wet, frost underneath which prevents the wet from soaking away. The ice begins to move fromthe North shore probably if the wind and weather continues one day longer, the Mail Packet will get away, many people are very anxious for the Mail to go and return, much news is expected from various places from Congress and from the General Court in Boston, etc. A whale ship is in Old Town supposed to be the Rose, Capt. Davis.

31st Light wind at NE & the weather moderate with considerable rain the most of the day. The [???] & the ice weakened. Foggy.

1st 2mo Small wind at SE with some rain & foggy, the weather moderate. A number of men, for want of better business have made two attempts to break the ice at the end of the Straight Wharf by a torpedo, but failed. The novelty drew together a large concourse of spectators.
