Afterwards a very stong wing at WNW. 19th & 20th Very low tides which it is said denotes moderate still weather. 21st A hard Easterly rain storm, which proves that signs will not always answer. 29.12 Some rain in the forefront of the day, the latter very cold, the cold increased until 9 o'clock in the morning, at which time the thermometer stood at 7 1/2 above zero which was the coldest weather this season. It arose during the day. The harbor was nearly covered with ice. 31st Thermometer at 16. The ice made out nearly to the Bar, the weather very cold and chilly. 1st 1 mo 1837 Cold drizzly weather.
