Which has caused many of the Owners to be unable to meet the demands of their Creditors.
Among the various causes may be reckoned the the New Steam Boat, and the Camels.
The markets abroad for Oil and Candles are uncommonly dull, Many of our Coasters are laying by the wharves for want of business. The people generally say the times will be better soon, I hope they may, but see but little prospect at present.

The Circus came to day with their retinue.
It has been an uncommon remarkable time of late. The public has been taken up with a variety of circumstances, viz New Steam Boat, The Camels, New Bedford, Guards or Soldiers, Temperance Meetings, Antislavery Meetings, Shearing Sheep, Superior Court, Independence, and a good number of subjects of minor importance, all which keeps the town in continual commotion, any [AND] many of them of little or no profit to the Town.
The New Steam Boat arrived as above mentioned, the concourse of people of men & Children were immence [IMMENSE] to see the Circus &c &c.

Wet. Wet. Wet. seems to be the order of the day and of the week, & even the month, very few days for a month back that may be called pleasant and sun shine. Great complaint continues to be made of the abundance of wet and rainy weather, which in many respects is a great detriment ot the growth of vegetation, particularly the Gardens.
It is now about the season for the farmers to get in their Hay, and the abundance of the Grass is uncommon. I think it probable there is now 100 Tons mowed and laying on the ground, and some of it in a spoiling condition.

9th 7m/o
A clear Sun Shining morning, which is quite a raraty [RARITY], the number is so smally, it is quite pleasing to the farmers, as many things are in a suffering condition, particularly the Hay. Strong wind at SW everywhere very wet.
A warm Sun will soon change the aspect of things.
