It is often asked why it is so, what is the cause, various reasons may be assigned for the calamity, according to my view of the subject, a few words will comprehend the whole. Pride and extravagance, is the principal causes.
We live in one of the best countrys [COUNTRIES] in the world - kind Providence has furnished every thing necessary to make us happy and comfortable, if we were satisfied with all things that would make us comfortable.
But extravagance in living, but more especially in launhing [LAUNCHING] in to business beyond their ability to comport with as honest people. Ten times the number of Banks that ought to be established for the good of the people, which has made easy to procure paper bills called Money, which, instead of helping the community has been one of the most powerful causes that has brought the people into distress.
Creditors of late both in Europe and in this country has called for their money, it being out of the power of the people to comply with their promises, has brought thousands into difficulty. And as respects the people of this place they have their share, which is caused by the same means as above stated.
