Athens O. June 13. 1889 At a meeting of the Executive Committee held this day at the office of L.M. Jewett there was present Pres. C.W. Super Judge John Welch C S Welch E H Moore Charles Townsend. On motion the bond of LM Jewett as Auditor was duly examined and it and the sureties thereto were approved and confirmed. The following bills were here presented to the Committee and by them examined

Journal of Pedagog books 55.35 C.W. Super Sundries 17.29 C.W. Super " 5.14 Richland Co Mnt Ins Co (C.H. Minton Agent) 12.00 Journal of Pedagog advertising 15.00 Theodore Pickering labor 4.00

On motion the sum of 100$ was appropriated to pay CA Woodworth for practice training in high school to be expended under the direction of the President at 20$ per school month which motion was duly seconded and adopted

On motion duly seconded the bal of the bill of Robert Arscott $27.60/m for balance due on pavement

Auditors Bond of the Ohio University "Know all men by these presents that we Leonidas M. Jewett as principal and Rodolph de Steiguer as surety are held and firmly bound unto "The President and Trustees of the Ohio University" in the sum of one thousand dollars for the payment of Which Well and truly to be made we do hereby bind ourselves. Sealed with our seals and dated this 17th day of June 1889. The condition of this obligation is such that when as the said Leonidas M. Jewett has been duly elected Auditor of "The President and Trustees of the Ohio University"

a corporation under the laws of Ohio, for the current year, and until his successor is elected and qualified according to law. Now if the said Leonidas M. Jewett shall faithfully discharge all of the duties of Auditor of "The President and Trustees of the Ohio University" as required by law during his said term of office, and until his successor has been elected and qualified according to law, and render a just and true account of his doings as such Auditor when required, and deliver over to his successor in office all property of every kind that shall come in his hands belonging to said "The President and Trustees of the Ohio University" and shall faithfully perform and discharge all of the duties of his said office, then this obligation to be void, otherwise to be and remain in full force. Attest L.M. Jewett Secretary O.U. Athens O July 15 1889 A meeting of the Executive Committee was held at the office of L.M. Jewett Secretary of the Board. Present Chas Townsend E.H. Moore John Welch and L.M. Jewett on motion Charles Townsend was called to the chair. The official bond of E.H. Moore as Treasurer was presented and on motion duly seconded and accepted and ordered to be filed with the President of the University. Said bond is the words and figures following.

Treasurers Bond

Know all men by these presents that we Eliakim H. Moore as principal and Frank E. Foster Henry Logan Charles H. Grosvenor and David H. Moore as sureties, are held and firmly bound unto "The President and Trustees of the Ohio University" a corporation under the laws of Ohio, in the sum of Ten Thousand Dollars for the payment of which sum we bind ourselves, our heirs Executors and administrators jointly and severally. Sealed with our seals this 17th day of June 1889. The condition of the above obligation is such that whereas the above named Eliakim H Moore was by "The President and Trustees of the Ohio University" a corporation under the laws of Ohio, at its annual meeting held in June 1889 duly elected Treasurer of said "The President and Trustees of the Ohio University" for the current year, and until his successor is elected and qualified according to law. Now if the said Eliakim H. Moore as such Treasurer shall faithfully perform and discharge all of the duties of his said office, and render to said "The President and Trustees of the Ohio University" a just and true account of his doings and proceedings as such Treasurer when required, and also deliver over to his successor in office all moneys, securities and all other property that shall come to his hands belonging to said "The President and Trustees of the Ohio University" tpgether with all the books and papers in which his proceedings as such Treasurer shall be entered and kept, which shall be in his hands at the expiration of his term of office, then this obligation to be void, otherwise to be and remain in full force and virtue in law. Con High and Rich Sts $37.75 W.B. Jacobs 236 Carroll St. Brooklyn NY advertising $10.00 Geo. W. Baker postage $10.00 The Independent 251 Broadway New York $12.40 AA Graham subscription Archeological Society $5.00 Geo W. Powell Canal Winchester O drain tiles $7.44 Ernest Newkom labor $4.00 W.A. Lewis Sundries $8.75 Barlett and Kurtz hardware $16.97

On motion of E.H. Moore duly seconded and adopted the proposition of CL Poston +Co dated July 19th 1889 reading as follows. "We propose to furnish you all of the coal you may need at the Colleges at Athens O. the coal to come from our mines and known as the Posotn Coal to be double screened free from slack and slate, at and for the price of one dollar and forty seven and a half cents ($1.47 1/2) per ton of 2000 lbs to be delivered in {fires?} of said college as you may direct. Very Truly C.L. Poston +Co" was duly accepted and the Secretary was notified to advise Mess. C.L. Poston +Co of the acceptance of their proposition.

C.W. Super tendered the resignation of Prof. E.P. Andersoon as Professor of "English literature" which was accepted, and Pres. C.W. Super was authorized to make arrangements to employ some competent person to teach in that department until the successor of Prof. Anderson can be elected. Attest L.M. Jewett Secy O.U.

Athens O Sept. 7, 1889 At a meeting of the Executive Committee of the Ohio University, held this day at the office of L.M. Jewett, the following members were present: Pres. C.W. Super, John Welch, C.S. Welch, E.H. Moore, Chas Townsend and L.M. Jewett. Pres Super made an announcement to the Committee in referene to filling the vacancy occasioned by the resignation of Prof. Anderson, which was discussed at length, and on motion of Chas Townsend, Dr Super, L.M. Jewett, G.W. Boyce and E.A. Cranston were appointed a committee to meet applicants in Cincinnati and consider their applications and made a recommendation to this committee, which motion was duly seconded and adopted. On motion L.M. Jewett was authorized to spend $10.00 to be paid in cleaning up the space outsideof the college fence on the east, south- and west sides, between said fence and the gutter, which motion was duly seconded and adopted. On motion duly seconded and adopted the following bills were ordered to be paid: Alden + Faxon, advertising, 66 W. 3rd St. Cincinnati $123.50 Wm. Hoover, bill of books $5.60 Eli Dunkle, postage $11.12 Fred W. Bush (C.W. Super), advertising $5.00 W.A. Olmstead, black boards 182 Wabash Ave. Chicago $16.00 Chas. A.
