Office of the Secretary of "The President and Trustees of the Ohio University. Athens Ohio, Sept. 26, 1889. The Executive Committee of the Ohio University met this day at the office of its Secretary; present, Dr. C.W. Super, V.C. Lowry, John Welch, C.S. Welch. Chas. Townsend and L.M. Jewett. The claims of the various applicants for the position of the chair of English Literature and History were discussed at considerable length, and after such discussion, Judge Welch moved that Prof. Willis Boughton of Cincinnati be elected to fill the chair of English Literature and History, which motion was duly seconded and adopted; and Pres. Super was authorized within the limits of $1,000 per year to employ him, and in the mean time, he was authorized to employ such persons and upon such terms as to him might seem most expedient, as assistants to teach in said department during the present term. On motion duly seconded and adopted the following bills were examined, approved and allowed and the Auditor was ordered to draw orders in favor of the several claimants. W.A.
