Boston July 27- 1872

Mr dear Sir,

My father George Cogswell was the owner of 1/128th part of the Ship Commonwealth which was destroyed by the Florida, and has until now neglected to make any claim for his loss, although his name is reported at [illegible] ten, I suppose if the [illegible] [illegible] [illegible] [illegible & Britain any owner?? Of [illegible] in this regard - he will not however have lost any thing by his delay. I understand that [illegible] and others [illegible] Mr. Beaman are collecting many of these claims - he desires to put his claim into [illegible] & their [illegible] for collection I imagine that he will not have to furnish much [illegible] as [illegible] has already been done by the other [illegible] [illegible] of course involves?? his claims. [illegible] [illegible] will send on?? the contract [illegible] desire [illegible] [illegible] we will execute [illegible] return
