Phillips Academy Andover, Mass. March 8, 1834
Dear Mother and Bad: Lots of things happening right now. In the first place, Its getting toward vacation and that always steps things up a bit. My last exam comes Wednesday night, the 21st. I hope to get home that night, but may Save to wait until Thursday. I got my term paper for English in last Monday and that took a big load off my mind. It seems as if I didn't have anything left to do, but this Is just the,lull before orep-eration for the finals. I didn't get Cum Laude. Don't know why yet, but I'm going to see to-morrow. Mohave to start working real hard. This term my marks are fair so far. All In the eighties. Honor Roll doubtful. 4ust received xhs your class bulletin, which I suppose yoU received also. They got most of the facts straight although cqlored up a bit. Shall I acknowledge it or not? Now for a reply to your last questionaire. I'm not so sorry I" wasn't home during that snowfall. V.e had plenty up here, but it sure went fast. We ah had a few spring days and now its almost all gone. The minute the temperature went a little above freezing everyone discarded goats and dressed as if it were "the middle of summer. But they^re putting them back on now. Snowed a little this ev^ng, but I think its Just a flurry. f I|'m O.K. on the money. Still have about thirty dollars in checks saved from my allowances. Do you want me fio use it towards the bill up here, send it to you, [or put it In the bankr^/ I'd rather do the latter. Have been working from twelve to one S^ in the library four days a week at thirty-five cents per hour. ry I,t's easy work and I think I'll get a ralffe next term. Have % had to get accustomed to the Job. Most of, it consists of typing different things with other odd Jobs M thrown in. Have also been selling pictures for Huntress, a few hours each week, and have made between ten and fifteen dollars. Havg you a bill for the fall term? The amount looks rather large to me. You can send that five dollars to the alumni fund If ybu think It's the thing to do. If not you could use it to help pay for the reunion or something else connected with the present society. Use your own Judgement. Face is in average condition. Laundry, I think, delayed her last week. Sent It this week HB< XI&KK to-day. Was undoubtedly mailed early this afternnon. Head waiting job going beautifully. Get sick of It at times, but have less and s, complimented me on less to do. Miss Marks, dietitian and bos it yesterday.

Fraternity iseems to be just what I expected. A place to spend your soaie time and a much closer relationship be tween a certain group of fellows. I don't overuse the place but get a good time out of It. There have been two cuts in baseball and I'm still with them. I xmay stay on the squad but I don't tink I'll, do much more. Made the all-club bas ketball squad, largely through drag, I think. We are going up to Exeter to play next Wednesday. Have been having quite a lot of fun with idub swimming. We have had a meet every week. Ours was only a five man club, but I think we are finishing up in second place. Lost the deciding meet to-day by virtue of a close relay. Have done numeral time in the meets consistently.

Have been ,in some demand lately for piano playing. They have turned the junior dinigto rodm which has been closed for s me time, Into a senior smoking and gathering room. There is a niano in there and quite a gathering after meals. The Beanery chorus is getting to be quite good. Last night they asked for all the old favorites and although I had never played most of them I surprised even myself. We are conducting a running this week. There is only one fellow, and he,seems pretty well worn even though it's only the first day. He's taking it awfully serious and we're having a lot of futn with him. Fred and I are still planning for this week end. I hope things work out all right. Well tell you about it in my next. In the mean time I am looking forward eagerly to being home again. Rock.
