Debate by Anderson & Lowe, on the Question -- Are the Abilities of the sexes equal? - Decided in the Negative -- Voted (underlined) - That there be a Public Meeting of the Society on Rom? evening hereafter stated - (unanimously adopted) The following Amendment to the Constitution was then read and laid upon the table for two weeks - Viz. - That Article 11th of Sec 5th shall read as follows. The exercisis (sic) of the Society Shall Consist of a Criticism, Oration and ???????? debate - alternately. Composition, Declamation and the usual discussion of some Quesstion appointed for debate. The following addition to the Constitution was also read and laid upon the table.___ The written debate shall be Conducted by two members of the Society appointed by the President according to Sec"3d Art" 2d of the Const_ The asubject of said debate shll be appointed by the Standing Comt with the consent fo the Society: the discussion of which shall be decided by the yeas and nays. On Motion (underlined), the report of the Committee on moveing (sic) the Library adopted the last evening: was accepted. Voted (underlined). That an honorable dismission be granted Mr. Burbank Adjourned Samuel(?) Cloolcott(?)
