Records brought over from Vol 2. February 17. 1831. Society convened and was opened as usual; When the following parts were perfomed. 1st Composition by True. 2nd Debate by Sweetser on the affirmative and Nichols on the negative of the Question, Did the Ancients, or do the Moderns have greater facilites for displaying their talents? 3rd criticism on Coolidge's composition by Chase. 4th original Declaration by Oviatt. 5th Dialogue by Cooldige & Callahn. 6th Theatre by Emerson 7th Selected Declamation by Naynard. When it was voted, that the Society meet on Thursday next for the purpose of choosing offices. There being no other business, the Society was adjourned. Attest, 24th 1831 Benj El Coolidge Sec. Society convened according to vote and was open ed as usual. The business of teh evening was the commenced by the reading of the Treasurer's report, which was accepted. The Librarian should then have read his report, but as he was not present, the Society proceeded to the choice of oficcers. As follows. viz.

The Secretary then read the Laws, and a peice from the Box. The President's address was then delivered before the Society, and the meeting was adjourned. Attest. March 3rd 1831. Benja Coolidge Sec. Society was convened and was opened as usual. When the following parts were performed. 1st select Dec lamation by Whitney. 2nd Criticism on Sweetser's Competition by Callahn. 34d Composition by Searles. 4th Triangular Debate by Coolidge on the affirmative, Callahan on the Middle, and Oviatt on the negative of the Question, When a nation is partily civilized, what kind of Government is best Calculated to reclaim it from that slate, An Absolute monarchy, a limited Monarchy or a Republican form of Government? 5th Criticism on True's Composition Emerson. 6th Original Declamation Nichols, 7th Dialouge by True and Naynard. 8th and 9th parts were omitted. When it voted that Mr Boynton be excluded from the Society for the remainder of the term and likewise that he be entitled to its privileges. Likewise that "Self Education" be purchased. There being no other business before the Society, the meeting was convened. Attest. Benja Coolidge. March 17. 1831. Society was convened and opened as usual.
