The Secretary then read the Laws, and a peice from the
Box. The President's address was then delivered before the
Society, and the meeting was adjourned.

Society was convened and was opened as usu-
al. When the following parts were performed. 1st select Dec
lamation by Whitney. 2nd Criticism on Sweetser's Compe-
tition by Callahn. 34d Composition by Searles. 4th Trian-
gular Debate by Coolidge on the affirmative, Callahan on the
Middle, and Oviatt on the negative of the Question, When a
nation is partily civilized, what kind of Government is best Cal-
culated to reclaim it from that slate, An Absolute monarchy, a
limited Monarchy or a Republican form of Government?
5th Criticism on True's Composition Emerson. 6th Original Decla-
mation Nichols, 7th Dialouge by True and Naynard. 8th and 9th
parts were omitted. When it voted that Mr Boynton be exclud-
ed from the Society for the remainder of the term and likewise
that he be entitled to its privileges. Likewise that "Self Education"
be purchased. There being no other business before the Society,
the meeting was convened.
