February 17. 1831.
Society convened and was opened as usual;
When the following parts were perfomed. 1st Composition by
True. 2nd Debate by Sweetser on the affirmative and Nichols on the
negative of the Question, Did the Ancients, or do the Moderns have
greater facilites for displaying their talents? 3rd criticism on Coo-
lidge's composition by Chase. 4th original Declaration by Oviatt.
5th Dialogue by Cooldige & Callahn. 6th Theatre by Emerson 7th
Selected Declamation by Naynard. When it was voted, that the
Society meet on Thursday next for the purpose of choosing offices.
There being no other business, the Society was adjourned.

Society convened according to vote and was open
ed as usual. The business of teh evening was the commen-
ced by the reading of the Treasurer's report, which was accepted.
The Librarian should then have read his report, but as he was not
present, the Society proceeded to the choice of oficcers. As fol-
lows. viz.
