Ordered That Alderman Gardiner be a Member
of the Court of Revision in the place of ex-alderman
Bermingham resigned

Ald. Thompson introduced A By Law to raise
by way of loan the Sum of $4000 for public School
purpose - which was read a first time

The Mayor presented Ex Mayor Smythe with his
Portrait in Oil - which the Ex Mayor handed over
to Ald. J. Wilson Chairman of City Property to be
placed in the City Hall

On motion the Council adjourned

The Clerk read the minutes of the last meeting

Communications from Robert McLean Esquire Secretary
Canadian Fire Underwriters Association, Toronto was read
on the subject of Fire appliances at Kingston and re [rating?]
&c - Referred to the Committee On Fire, Water and Gas

A Communication from the City Engineer was read
asking authority for the removal of the following trees

One Poplar tree south east angle of Princess and Ontario
streets

One on the South West angle of Princess and Ontario streets

Two maples on South side of Johnson street between Sydenham
and Clergy streets

On motion of Ald. Thompson seconded by Ald. Gildersleeve

Ordered, That the City Engineer be empowered to remove
the Trees named in his Communication to the Mayor and Council
of this date

A Communication from Messrs Walkem and Walkem
was read Re McGill damage - Referred to the Committee on
Streets

A Communication from James Agnew Esquire, City Solicitor
was read stating action Crumley vs Kingston was dismissed with
costs against the Plaintiff
