My own little darling

I had 2 letters from you yesterday but none today. Your
letter days seem to come in pairs. The post in the advanced village
is nothing like as quick or as regular as it used to be at St Omer.
The towels have arrived safely. Very many thanks for them. Will
you remember to send me an electric torch, for the ways are dark &
foul.

Yesterday it rained all day like a deluge & is as bad to-day.
It is an awful pity for the operation. Winter has begun far too soon. In
