My dearest wee Mother

I was very glad to get Nan's letter yesterday & it was kind
of you to copy out Willie's letter for me. I think it a most
wonderful letter. Poor man, it would be a comfort to him to
write it, when he was so far from his friends. I wonder what he
is thinking about the King's gifts to India. They seem to me to be
rather fine & imaginitive, but I have no means of judging. I shall
be interested to know what Willie thinks.

I enclose a letter from J. [Tindal?] Did you ever hear of
a man with a queerer epistolary style. Tell Nan that the
little scent sachet came from Floris, Jermyn Street, S.W.
