My dearest wee mother
This is a nice cool day. I was very busy all yesterday, & had a long session meeting in the morning. Glenconner must be getting generous, for there was a deficit of £178 in the cost of the alteration of our hall, & he promptly sent a cheque for it. Susie dined with her mother last night, & I stayed at home & worked. The Frank Tennants opposite had a dance & the sounds of bagpipes keep coming over. Susie seems to have bagged a great deal of stuff for Peebles from the Bazaar.

They think they have made about £1500, which is £500 more than they expected. I sent you last night two copies of the programme.
I am lunching with the Asquiths in Downing St. to-day. I don't a bit like it, but Susie promised Violet, & I couldn't get out of it without rudeness.
Scarlet fever has broken out in Ted Brown's school, & Mrs Brown may have to take him away. She wants me to arrange for his journey, as George is in Norway.
Much love to all
Your affectionate son
John.
