My dearest wee mother
We saw the blessed children off to St Abbs [ST: seaside place] last night.
Mr John was as good as gold, though very sleepy, & never gave a
cheep all evening, & so was the Wozer [ST: Alice]. I hope the change
will do them a great deal of good. Alice looks as if she
needed it, for she is rather peaked.
Seeing them off prevented me going to the guild meeting at
which Mr Balfour took the chair, but my delegate returned
full of enthusiasm. The London Scottish Drill Hall was packed, &
