My own little darling

I have not yet got your letter as I left Fairnilee too early this morning. Will you write to-morrow to Parkside & on Wednesday to Bank House? The London post will be in before I leave on Thursday.

On Saturday afternoon I got in to Fairnilee at 3.45 when I got your beloved letter. We dined at 4 & left at 4.45 for Megget. I never saw anything like the beauty of the Yarrow valley in the autumn twilight. I spoke at Megget at 6 to a schoolroom full of [shep]herds - a very pleasant meeting. Then

we motored in a great hurry to Ettrickbridge end, passing the Shaws! We had a crowded & very appreciative meeting there, & got home at 10.30. Yesterday was a misty day. In the afternoon I walked up Yair hill & was nearly caught by the darkness. To-day again is lovely.

I gave Mrs Roberts your message. I do hope you are being allowed up now, my little own one, & are feeling much better. There are constant inquiries from all sorts of people for "the mistress." I am longing for Thursday night to come. Much love to the Big Friend & the noble Hun
