My dearest wee Mother
The weather is very close & grey, inclining to thunder. I did not get home till 11 yesterday, for I had to go to the Geographical Dinner to reply for the guests. Cecil Rawling got the Royal medal, but to my sorrow he was not there to receive it. Glenconner was one of

I had another letter from Skeil yesterday. He has promised to look me up when he comes through London.
I have no news to-day. I am spending laborious hours with the Treasury over the finances of my department. The P.M. has put on me the organising of a big speechifying campaign especially

I hope to be able to get down to Kent this week-end & to stay over Whit Monday. My History [ST: of the War] is woefully in arrears & I must get a day or two to get on with it.
