I got safely back last night at 8 o'clock. I think I never had a more comfortable trip. I went over on Tuesday in a perfect hurricane. The crossing was about the worst I have seen. I just missed the good Paris train - & had

to travel all night & did not get to Paris till 6 am. on Wednesday. I had a couple of hours in bed & then a long day seeing people, & the same on Thursday. Happily the weather in Paris was excellent, but the hotel was very cold, there was no hot water, & the bread was foul. I saw most of the ministers & General Foch

& I think I have got my new Bureau started on the right lines.
I left on Thursday night at 11 to get to Boulogne at 9.30 am. yesterday just in time to miss the morning boat. I had to wait for 6 hours in that chill & ugly town. Altogether travelling to Paris is no joke nowadays, for nothing runs in connection with anything else.
