My dearest wee Mother

Susie & I got back to Terry's Lodge safely last night & found the children very well. It is not a very easy job getting rations up to that place, for we have no transport. We were glad to get old Nan's interesting letter. When do you go to Broughton Green? You seem to be as very dried up in Scotland as we are here. The potatoes, hops & fruit are absolutely ruined in Kent. I hope to get down

to night by the late train, & to stay down to-morrow & Sunday. Mr John has still an occasional bad night for dreams, & looks pulled down in the morning, but on the whole he is very well.

Yesterday was the 4th of July & a great American festival here. I did not go to any of the meetings, but Winston seems to have spoken very well at the one we got up.

I do hope you are fairly well
