My dearest wee Mother
This is a lovely bright day. Mr John is to be allowed up for a little, & he is perfectly well, but as he has been starving for a week, he must go cannily. I am perfectly recovered. I had to talk to Reuter's on the long-distance telephone I have taken the Deputy-Chairmanship, but have arranged that for

the present it will make no difference to my connection with Nelson's.
The [Croppers?] are coming this evening, also Amabel Strachey [ST: Mrs Clough Williams Ellis] to tea. We had the Poet Laureate, Robert Bridges, to lunch yesterday - a wonderful old man
I hope old Walter is getting on well with his chapter, & that you & Nan are taking care of yourself
Much love to all
from
John
