My dearest wee Mother

This is a lovely bright day. Mr John is to be allowed up for a little, & he is perfectly well, but as he has been starving for a week, he must go cannily. I am perfectly recovered. We went to call at Kirtlington Park yesterday, & then came back by Oxford & weighed Alastair. He has only lost 7 ozs from his flu', which is not bad. The [Croppers?] are coming this evening, also Amabel Strachey [ST: Mrs Clough Williams Ellis] to tea. We had the Poet Laureate, Robert Bridges, to lunch yesterday - a wonderful old man
