pleasure which I had enjoyed in reading the book,
was shared apparently by every one else who
had read it. I do hope you are pleased, & I
feel you must be. You seemed to have improved
& polished a lot since I read the typed pages
last spring, & I particularly enjoyed the Canadian
part, whilst the last 2 chapters which I hadn't
read before, are quite charming & excellent.
Considering you never knew Lord Minto personally,
I think it is quite wonderful how you have
depicted his character, & it is a living picture.
As one who loved Lord Minto, I should like to
thank you for having given such a true &
charming picture of him to be handed down to posterity.
