GOVERNMENT HOUSE, OTTAWA.
December 10th 1924.
My dear John.
I thought it right to let Mackenzie King know the contents of your nice letter.
He will be delighted to see Mr Baldwin who would naturally, I suppose, come as the guest of the Government, but at the same time he asked me to tell you, privately, that it is possible there may be a general election out here - and if so it would take place

in September or October next. Of course nothing will be settled until next Session which begins towards the end of January.
As I have heard nothing direct from the Prime Minister about his coming I thought I would write to you with a view of your passing on the possibility of the difficulty of the proposed visit.
Naturally, I want to make it the greatest success & should be sorry if anything arose to diminish the importance of it. Bless you, love to both from both.
Yrs Julian [Lord Byng]
