A curious coincidence happened to me
the other day which might interest you.

I got into conversation with the
conductor of an omnibus, who seemed a
very intelligent man and who told me
that he had served in the War
in the Signals. I advised him to read
your book, adding some words of
commendation, whereupon a man who
was sitting a few places away, turned
round and said "I am very glad to hear
you say that, Sir, as I was Mr. Buchan's
assistant". He was a clean shaved
man, but I had no opportunity of
further talk with him, as I then
had to leave the omnibus.

I have also read several of your
stories with the greatest pleasure.

I am emboldened to write to you at
this length, as my wife had the pleasure
of meeting you at luncheon with Mr.
