STONEHURST, INTERVALE, N. H.
Sept 19. 23 [JAS: 1925?]
Dear John:
"John MacNab" is great. He arrived at the hospital when I was lying on a bed of pain, following an operation for hernia and a subsequent re- arrangement of my insides: you can imagine what a joy he was. Many people here wish you had ended it differently and not forgiven the Claybodys, but I don't agree. You should, however, change "poop", (page 66, line 18) to "boob" - for the honor of the American tongue.
I've been appointed Harvard

lecturer at the Sorbonne for 1925-26. I expect to get to Paris late in January; and we're all counting on a summer in England and Scotland. It will be a joy to see you again. My third column will be out in November. Our united love to you both.
Yours always
Roger B. Merriman
