I have had to wait for this quiet of Sunday to send you a line of thanks for your delightful Coming of Age party for your boy. It was so quiet & undemonstrative & so superlatively good The young

man should be proud in the future to reflect that in the midst of a national crisis the Prime Minister of the day, an Ex-prime Minister and the Leader of the greatest party in the land, and two of our first Statesmen in respect of Foreign Affairs, were amongst the small and privileged company who shared his 21st Birthday Celebrative feast. It was a distinguished launching for him, and it was kind of you to ask me to assist at it. Many thanks, my dear John,
