What wonderful news! and how delightful
of you to write & tell me yourself. It seems to
me that the honour & interest of the appointment is
doubled by the fact that you have been asked for
by your future subjects & I congratulate them on
having got what they wanted. It is not common
to find a man prominent as you are both in literature

Mary Caroline (née Stuart Wortley) Countess of Lovelace.
She was Susie Buchan's aunt (mother's sister) and was married to the 2nd Earl of Lovelace (Ralph) who was Ada Lovelace's son.
