I had my usual pow-wow with the
Indians (they are the Slaves here), and
they presented me with a wonderful
map of the Mackenzie embroidered on
moose skin. Maggie was a
rampant photographer. She had
the whole settlement fetching and
carrying for her.

The extreme northern end of
the Rockies has suddenly appeared
to the west, about 10 miles off. The
river is about 2 miles wide, and
the country is hilly and very lovely.
