Sydney 12th. October 1859.
Sir, In consequence of the near approach of the Separation of Moreton Bay from New South Wales, I have the honor to again request you to Submit to His Excellency the Govenor General, My application for the Appointment of Surveyor General in the New Province.
It is I conceive unnecessary to recapitulate Services under the Government in Australia during the past 17 years, as they are doubtless Sufficiently known to His Excellency, And I trust that the experience obtained during so long a period in the Department of the Public

I have submitted to His Excellency your letter of Saturday's date and have received his commands to inform you that the answer to your application was dictated solely by a regard for the present and future requirements of the public service, which did not offer an opening for the employment of your Services, & by a request & yr own convenience lest [] shd. [] hoping that it will be [] the []'s promis to realise
His Excellency permits me to add that which I consider to be sufficient between [] allusions to myself that [] I entertain but a feeling of regret to beleive that your hopes have been disappointed, and that of your allusions to myself I have? for this notice []

Understanding that the Northern Districts have been erected into a separate Colony under the Name of Queensland, I do myself the honor very respectfully to inform You that I have applied to the Government of New South Wales to continue my services under that Government; At the time I accepted the District Surveyorship of the Leichardt [sic] and

Sydney 30 December 1859 Sir We have the honor to inform you that we have in accordance with an advertisement in the Government Gazette of this Colony sent in to the Lands commissioner here certain on behalf of Messrs S. & W. Davidson of Cunning Downs tenders /\ for Runs in the recently proclaimed district of Kennedy but as the Separation of Queensland has taken place since that notice we deem it due to our constituents intrested in the said Runs to inform you thereof , and to say that we have requested the Commissioner to forward the tenders to you We have the honor to be Sir Your obedient Servts.
