AN ORDINANCE
Prohibiting the Practive of Lewdness or
Prostitution.

Be it ordained by the Mayor and Aldermen of the
City of Greenville in Council assembled, and by
authority of the same:
Section 1. That from and after the passage of this
Ordincance it shall be unlawful for any occupant or
owner of any house of room, or part of the same,
within the limitys of the City of Greenville, to
practice lewdness or prostitution therin, or to
allow males and females to co-habit therein with-
out first having been lawfully married to each oth-
er, or to permit persons to resort to said house,
room or part thereof for the purpose of prostitu-
tion and lewdness.
Section 2. That any person or persons violating
this Ordinance shall upon trial and conviction
therefor, be fined by the Mayor of acting Mayor
not more than fifty dollars or be imprisoned not
more than thirty days, or either or both, at the
discretion of the Mayor or acting Mayor.
Done and ratified in Council assembled this the
17th day of April 1903.
