The State of Alabama vs Edmond a slave On this case for statement the prosecuting officer says that Edmond a slave on his Examination as a witness duly sworn to testify on the trial of an prosecution in Shelby County authorized by law by the state of Alabama vs Crowford a slave which court had authority to administer an oath Testified falsely. That Pete a witness also upon said Trial whose testimony was varrient from his Edmonds had admitted to him or Edmond on his way home from the first trial that he Pete had sworn falsely and also told him that uncle frank had also sworn falsely in their statements in their evidence wherein they recv'd from him Edmond The matter so testified being material to the issue and the testimony so given by Edmond was willfully and corruptly false against the peace and dignity of the state of Alabama

Defendant expects to prove by Benjamin S.Randall, Thos.L. Morrow, Columbus C.Cunningham, Jacob Perry & John Sumner, that they are and have been acquainted with the general character of the Slave Edmond who is here charged, for several years, and know his character for honesty, good conduct and also for truth and veracity, in the neighbourhood where he lives, and that they would if foresend state that he is and honest negro, and that his character for truth, and veracity is good. Deft expects to prove by Thomas Sunford that he was at his Shanties between Shelby Springs and Montevallo on the night that Edmond Kings negroes Frank, Pete Edmond Moss & F.J.Whatley passed by there on there way home from Columbiana, at the first trial of the State vs Crawford a slave, and that they gallopped over the Rail Road, making considerable noise and that they crossed the Rail Road which was not filled up past that they acted like a drunken coward
