The State of Alabama
Shelby County
be it Remembered that on the 7 day of Aug
1843 personaly came before me Buz P Randall
Sheriff of said county
B Williamson and acknowledged them selves to
owe and be indebted to Benjamin Fitzpatrick
Govnor of the State of Alabama and his
successors in office each in the sum of Two
hundred dollars for the payment of which we
bind our selves our heirs executors administrators
personaly and jointly firmly if these presents sealed
with our seal and dated as above

Now the condition of the above at obligation is such
that if the above bound Jared Bates makes
his personal apperance before the Honorable
the Judge of our next circuit court at
a court to be held and for said court at this
place of holding the same on the second monday
in September next then and there to answer the
State of Alabama of a charge of selling to
a certain negro slave a certain commodity
to wit calico without lawful authority
So to do as stands charged by the grand jurors
for said court at the spring term A.D. 1843
and continue from day to day and from
term to term untill discharged by a due
