Monday 3
Ship going very slow owing to breakdown in one of the engines. Weather very rainy also with the result that troops have to remain down below practically all day. Did some washing during the morning. Time hanging very heavy I expect it will be so until we do eventually get home. After dinner the four of us played Bridge until tea time. Then after tea played sevens for fags. Issue of fags & etc.

Tuesday 4
Up til noon today only did 150 miles so we lost about 110 mls which if we do not make up will land us home about a day later. As it was too wet to remain on deck I went down below swung my hammock & slept all the afternoon. After tea we went to the 2nd Hatch and secured seats for the concert. The concert was very good in fact one of the best we've had aboard since leaving England.
