nursery room developed more stumps
for extraction than was anticipated yet
the progress of the work with the limited
force is satisfactory, about 3&1/2 acres
are now ready for the plough and
2&1/2 acres ready to be burned
logged and stumped. Valuable native trees
and shrubs are saved for replanting
while the permanent portions of the natural
growth has not been injured by the
fires necessary in clearing
the good wood is being saved for greenhouse
use.
The Nursery work was such as the
season of the year demands. Effort will
be made as the work in this department
moreas to put the nursery into such
condition that its care and maintenance
can largely be done by horsepower.
