In casting about for a form
of ballot to attach to my ballot bill I think
I found the form, essentially the same as that
in Sec 379, in the Indiana Statutes, and
together with the balance of the sample
ballot copied the two perpendicular lines, one
of which it would have been well to have
omitted, since it seems to be the tendency
to copy in detail the form given rather than following
the wording of the law.

The mandatory provisions of
the act, the order of tickets, spacing etc being
given so clearly in the body of the act the
form of ballot given is little short of a
rank piece of carelessness in comparison.
Although the blank space of a quarter of
an inch between perpendicular lines was
intended as a voting space, a fact readily
apparent upon an examination of the act in full,
