To the Honorable the Mayor of the City of Seattle and the City Council :- Your petitioner, The First Christian Church of the City of Seattle, a corporation, by its attorney Bair & Brown resepectfully shows:- 1st That it is the owner of Lot 7 in Block 55 of D T Denny's Home Addition to the City of Seattle 2nd That it has owned said lot since the 24th day of March A D 1890. 3d that said lot was assessed for the city taxes of 1890; that said tax was unpaid, became delinquent and said lot was sold for said tax of 1890 to one J L Howe and that a certificate of sale was issued to said Howe, who now asks that a deed be issued. 4th That said First Christian Church first learned of said assessment and sale this 30th day of August 1892 5th That the said propertyof the said church is worth less than the sum of $5000.00 and is therefore exempt from taxation under the laws of the State and of the United States

6th That said assessment and sale were illegal and void, and that the execution of a deed by this City to said Howe or his assigned will be an injury to said First Christian Church and will cast a cloud upon the title to said property. Wherefore your petitioner prays that the said assessment and sale be by you declared illegal and void; that the sum paid by said Howe for said lot be refunded to him; that the said Howe surrender to this city the Certificate of Sale of said Lot 7 Block 55 D T Dennys Home Addition to the City of Seattle; and then your honorable body order that no deed issue to said Howe or his assigns.
