To the City Council:-
Gentlemen:-
A great deal
having been said with reference to
the Waterous fire engine recently bought
by this Board, and especially since
the Board of Fire Commissioners have
seen fit to recommend to your honorable
body the rejection of said engine, this
Board whom the council authorized
and directed to buy said engine
desire to say that in the judgement
of this board the Waterous Engine
equaled on the whole if it did not
exceed the Ahrens Engine in the test, and
that in the other respects with a very few
minor exceptions the new engine is
substantially in accordance with the
