Tp theHon. the Mayor and Common Council of the City of Seattle Your Committee on Fire and Water offers the following recommendations for the improvement of the Fire Department 1st That an engine house be built for the accommodation of the Chemical Engine and its Company on the piece of ground at the intersection of Broadway, Eleventh and Terrace Streets which was donated to the City for Fire department uses by the heirs of the Terry estate. 2nd That permanent locations for the other Companies provided for in the nes department be selected, suitable lots purchased plans and specifications secrued, and the houses necessary be built at as early a date as possible 3rd That two heaters be purchased for the Ahren's

engines 4th That the means for the carrying out of these recommendations be obtained from the sale of the two lots at the Corner of Bell and Third Streets, these lots not being suitable for the use of the Department, and from the sale of the Lot on South Third Street. The last mentioned lot has becoem very valuable but is not any better adapted for Fire department purposes than other lots which are not held at a tithe of the value of the Third St property. 5 That until the Company houses are built temporary quarters be obtained and fitted up at as small an expense ad possible Oct 10th 1889 D E Durie, Chairman F A Twitchell T E Jones
